Tab View Delegate

i am coding in Java (an explanation in obj c is ok too). i am trying
to use the Tab View delegate message willSelectTabViewItem.
This is what i tried:
- I control dragged an NSTabView to my controller and connected it as the delegate.
- Then in my controller class i implemented the method: public void willSelectTabViewItem().
- In the method i just put a system print line to see if it works when i click on a tab.

so far i have had no luck. i am wondering if i am missing some obvious detail. Again, any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
