Make a TIFF using your favorite program.
Then launch
/Developer/Applications/IconComposer.app
drag TIFF to views.
save result.

Then go into project builder
drag ion file from IconComposer to /Resources/Images/
click Targets tab, then target entry, then "Applications Settings"
then assign Icon file: entry.
compile and run.

Then go to step one and refine your icon/tiff with correct size and alpha
