Basic File Management Question

Hello,

Sorry about me newbieness...

I'm reading in the docs about File Management and I came across two topic:

* Application File Management
and
* Low-Level File Management

Both seem to have common topics but it appears as though Application File
Management is for loading and saving files, correct? So then Low-Level file
management is for moving, checking attributes, deleting at etc? I want to
make a file browser so I would use Low-level file management right?

Are there any "gotcha's" I should know about?
