Hi,
I'm in favor of saying bye bye to resource forks. I'm not sure any files on
my hard disks have resource forks right now, and I'm not sure I care about
those that do...
Wait, just thought of some: my Entourage sound sets.
Big deal. Apple has encouraged and tried to get developers to do away with
resource forks for files, applications, and so forth. I'm fine with Cocoa
not supporting them. Cry a little for their removal from your OS, but don't
let those tears cloud your vision of the future: a future in which we
_won't_ have resource forks to deal with.
And fwiw, resource forks and metadata have already been discussed
_at_length_ and I'm pretty darn sure we're far enough off-topic to consider
this thread closed and done with, no?

Did Apple said that they would not support ressource fork anymore ? No. So

if they're API break ressource fork, IT IS A BUG !
They kinda have...

You actually have no idea of what the Mac community and "Legacy" Macintosh

users are. So of course backward compatibility is not important.
It's not when it gets in the way of actual progress. The next version of
Entourage should use individual AIFF files or bundles of them for audible
notifications.

If at first you don't succeed, call it version 1.0.
