As a matter of fact, yes, Apple is dropping resource forks, creator & types
and other mac-only stuff to follow the strategy of the lowest common
denominator i.e. Windows. Time will tell if it's a smart move or not.
I was just pointing out why resource forks are useful. Some people on the
list who come from a non-mac background consider them as an inferior
feature, while it's definitely a superior one.
The day Windows will have the equivalent (if ever), it will become de-facto
a standard and I'm pretty sure, everyone will say: "how cool! Any app can
add custom tags to files without modifying the inner content!" ;)
To stay closer to the thread: yes, resource forks are going away, however,
that's definitely not a reason for Cocoa app to damage them.
