I said I wouldn't post any more on this thread, and I am doing so now only
to correct a factual inaccuracy in Matt's statement -- presumably due to an
inadvertent oversight on his part.
IE/5.x/Mac _does_ create a .webloc file if you drag the _contents_ of the
address pane to the desktop.
It creates a .url file if you drag the page token (the @ sign next to the
address bar) to the desktop. I assume that Matt is in the habit of dragging
the token.
Neither file will survive a trip through TextEdit with all their
functionality intact -- the .url basically becomes an inconveniently
formatted text file, and the .webloc is totally destroyed.
I am going back to not talking about this any more now.
