tied to the new Cocoa Programming book about to be published?

The MiscKit is separate from the book, though it is mentioned in the book. The book will have its own web site.

Since this sort of question gets asked a lot, I think it is worth making a public statement of the current status of things so that I don't spend excess time answering people's queries about the kit (instead of actually working on it).

The kit isn't dead, but I know it seems like it from the outside. I've had to put most of my work on it on hold while I worked on the Cocoa Programming book. That book has really turned things upside down for me. Once my life is stable and I'm working less than 100 hours a week, and am caught up at work, I will have some free time available for the kit again.

I hope, within the next couple of months, to finish setting up the remaining MiscKit infrastructure that is needed. (No need for anyone to offer help; I've got some very competent helpers lined up already -- they're waiting for me to get my act together.) So very soon (if all goes well) the kit will be back -- better than before, I hope.

The ultimate goal is to have the kit available for OS X in some form or other before the Cocoa book hits the shelves. I don't know exactly when the book will be out, but I don't think it will be a whole lot longer. ;-) And of course, unexpected setbacks have a way of cropping up, so none of this constitues a promise as to a specific time frame. I'm just giving a core dump of the current status as I see it right now.

If it is any consolation, the fact that the kit has stagnated over the past couple of years probably bothers me a LOT more than it bothers any of you!

Now back to work...and back to lurking...
