Design Application

I would like to be able to create a simple layout design application
(somewhat similar to IB or OmniGraffle) with Palettes and a design surface
on to which I can drop objects and then move them around.

A couple of questions:

1. Do I have to use the drag and drop protocol in my custom view in order to
move objects just within the single view?

2. When I select an object I would like resize handles to appear - is there
something in AppKit which will do this for me or do I have to work out a
mechanism myself?

Thanks in advance

Simon Parker
