MallocDebug problem

My otherwise stable app crashes under MallocDebug with the message: "...
accessed memory at 0x7c0802ae illegally." I was somewhat relieved,
however, when I found out that ALL apps that I try in MallocDebug crash
like this. Is my copy of MallocDebug faulty, or has anyone else noted
this strange behavior?
