Am I missing something ? I have an NSTextView that I want to
display certain character(s) with using the Webdings font. So I get the
font using [NSFont fontWithName:@"Webdings" size:0], this returns and
instance of the Webdings font. If I use the debugger to look at the
NSFont its description says that it is 'CGS Webdings' ... I set the
text of my NSTextView to be some character say 'G' using
setString:@"G" , which is a solid box in Webdings if I'm not mistaken,
then I set the font of the NSTextView the Webdings NSFont instance for
the entire range in this case a single character using setFont:theFont
range:theRange, yet when the text is displayed it is the 'G' character
and not a Webdings symbol ? what could be going wrong ? Is there a
trick to using non standard fonts ?
I recently had exactly this problem but when I finally got it to work
(by using a slightly different version of the Dingbats font I had lying
around) my alpha testers complained they could only see the underlying
alphabetic character. In the end, I gave up and designed myself a very
simple custom image which I then 'aquafied' using Ben Haller's excellent
AquaTint app. Needless to say, this looks very much better than the
Dingbat I originally used....
