Like localhost?

I was thinking about generating a key based on something like the
host name i.e. the user sends me their host name and I send them a
license that will allow them to run the application on that computer
only (i.e. it's encoded into the license key and checked each time
the program runs).
I'd like to get people's feedback on whether this would help prevent
piracy, and whether the extra step of people sending me the hostname
(or some other info to identify their computer) in order to obtain a
license would be likely to lose sales for me. The application has a
demo mode that lets them try out the application, with saving and
printing disabled, so they would be able to assess the application
without a license.
