I have been watching the sessions as they come online. At least two
sessions cover Quartz Extreme, one (503) explaining how it works (at a
decent level) and the other explains how to optimize drawing and well as
how to leverage QE (516). Others cover OpenGL which has elevated
importance in Jaguar (also in the 500 block of sessions).
Also a session exists about Cocoa drawing... I haven't watched it just
yet. It may contain some useful information.
It is about as detailed information as you can get at the moment. If you
want to know more _now_ it may be your only way. I would imagine Apple
will release additional information in the coming months as Jaguar gets
closer to release.
I believe the Graphics, Imaging & Printing block of WWDC 2002 sessions
contains the sessions outlined above (and more). It runs $300 (or you
can spend $800 for all sessions) if you are a ADC select member.
Its a neat thing to hear about Quartz, Quartz Extreme and how the window
system works (and the demos are fun to watch). Watching the sessions
made things click in my head about how things work, reading docs hadn't
yet. 10.2 is starting to tap the power of Apple's windowing model.
If you don't/can't pay for the sessions I suggest getting a hold of
Jaguar seeds and testing your software on it to insure that
optimizations you do in your app to make 10.1 faster don't short-circuit
the optimizations that 10.2 will provide.

Hi Shawn:
It sounds like you have seen (or attended!) some of the sessions on ADC
TV. Do any of them cover Quartz Extreme in any level of detail that
would be help me to determine what kind of optimization I can let it
handle?
