Selecting submenu root

In a hierarchical menu, I need to handle the selection of the
submenu's root, like Internet Explorer's "Organize Favorites" item.
This item is the root of a submenu, AND you can select it too. I know
it's bad interface design, but there are situations that really call
for that.
Any hint?
