Actually, it was a programming system for children. (I think it may still
exist under another name, perhaps someone else on the list knows...) In fact,
I remember thinking when they announced the name "hey, they already had a
product named Cocoa, didn't they?" But I guess the former Cocoa was obscure
enough that they figured they could recycle the name.
I personally didn't like the name Cocoa, and it took me a while to get used
to it. I don't know why...I didn't care about the connection to Java, but
Cocoa just didn't have the right ring to me.
Oh well, it could have been worse. At least they didn't name it "Mountain
Dew."
