Yes, I agree. I believe that the intent behind drawers is to offer convenience, and users should be able to complete any task without them. (If someone doesn't agree, that's fine; let's not start a debate over it.) Implementing progressive disclosure, as AddressBook does to show a card, offers a much better user experience and is relatively easy to implement.
