Is there a way that user feedback can be incorporated and
linked into the docs, kind of like user tech notes?
Yep. Log a bug at Apple about the problem area. It would be groovy
if some facility (perhaps at a third party site) existed for what you
suggest, but right now logging bugs on Apple is the best way to effect
change.
I'll let somebody else tackle your NSScanner woes, as I have no idea
what the difficulty is. :->
