Is there somewhere some publicly available code for a control having a
continuous action (something like a slider or stepper)? I would like to
define new ones (for 3D), and I'm unsure what's the best way to do that.
If I understand well, I have to start a new run loop, but now the
documentation becomes very criptic on that...

You might want to take a look at GNUstep <http://www.gnustep.org>. It's an almost complete clone of OpenStep/Cocoa, and since it's from the Free Software Foundation, it's completely open source.
