Cocoa and UNIX txt files ??

I am developing a SAMPLE to people that wants to create AQUA GUI for their
command line applications.

Well.. I am using Eref (Video-Conference Server) to create this sample.

I have some strange problems, like command line application do not reconizes
configurations files in it own folder, and I needed to copy these files to
the same folder we have Applications, System, Library, Users.

But what I need is not to solve this !!!
Anybody could help me with any idea how to create LOG View Window and the
Change Preferences Windows?

1) LOG View:

I think in something like a text reader, that renew text from LOG txt file
each XZ seconds, or something...

2) Preferences:

I need to read and chanage some words in the txt config file.
So... How to read an exactly line and word in a txt file? And to be able to
change these words ?
I need also to be able to create and delete a complete line, checking a box.

Thanx for any kind of help... I hope that later this sample could help
everybody to make Aqua GUI for command line applications.

Best Regards,

Alberto V. M.
