MacApp is a non-issue. it's available as complete source code no? There is no loss there, and anyone can choose to continue to develop for it, extend it, etc..

Source code yes, open source no. Any changes or bug fixes I make are not available to anyone else using it. In other words over time it becomes a private framework for the company working on it and extending it. How much more effort would it take to make it an Open Source project.

I'd be surprised if there were that many commercial shipping apps that were using the stock Apple MacApp frameworks.

I know of several companies in the Boston area (where I am located) that are using it right now for future development. As far as shipping apps go, percentage wise I'm sure you're right, but I also think you'd be surprise by some of people using it and who they are. (If you interested, see <http://developer.apple.com/tools/macapp/exchange.html> for an outdated list of just some of the developers using it.)

But now this has gone way off topic as this is not the forum to talk about MacApp, and for that I apologize. I was simply using MacApp as an illustration point since it is a subject that I am fairly comfortable with. I didn't want to get ripped apart on this list for talking about a Cocoa technology which I may not completely know about, and hence may have spoken incorrectly about.
