[sort of OT] PackageMaker help

  • Subject: [sort of OT] PackageMaker help

Hello,

I'm trying to make a package to install my software - it has three components which all need to be in different places so using the installer is probably a good idea. I've made the package so that it installs all three components into /Applications and then moves two of them elsewhere with a post install script.

However, whether or not I include the script, if I make it so that it doesn't need authorisation the installer puts everything in /Applications and then complains that it couldn't set file attributes.

If I make it so it does require authorisation, and I have 'Use Usermask' on, the install goes perfectly, everything is put in its correct place, but the items are all owned by root. My understanding is that 'Use Usermask' is supposed to make the files owned by whoever authenticated. Why doesn't it?

I can't see anything wrong with what I'm doing... maybe it's some subtle permissions thing which I'm not seeing. Any ideas?
