Excuse me, but I think you owe this guy an apology.
You are wrong. He (and you) owe an apology to the list.
How does he? He asked a valid question (that IS what this list is for,
eh?). He seems to have taken the time to look at the docs, though
obviously his documentation-reading skills aren't up to your exacting
standards. Please remember that finding stuff in the documentation is
as much a learned skill as anything else; how is a newbie to know the
table of contents is incomplete? He not surprisingly assumed the
information might be listed separately elsewhere (much like the many
protocols) or nonexistent/not listed in one place (considering the state
of some of the documentation, that isn't too farfetched).
He could have tried searching NSWindow.html in his browser (that is how
I discovered the lists of delegate methods myself) but it likely didn't
occur to him that they would be in the file at all after seeing it
wasn't in the TOC. You might have suggested this to him instead of
responding with an insult and a "RTFM" (which he seemed to have made a
good-faith attempt at already).
I might, since this conversation now is off-topic and might seem a bit
flamey (but the last thing I want to do is start a flame war, so this'll
be my last message on the subject :-). My apologies to anyone who has
been bothered by it.
I did, the very first time I've started learn OpenStep. And I've read
it before I annoyed anybody other by questions. He and you should do
the same.
Well, I stand in awe of your doc-reading prowess, and humbly beseech you
to understand not all of us have your amazing talent ;-). Though I'm
happy to tell you I did do the same...
There is a number of people here who are quite anxious to help others,
who need an information; *NOT* them who are lazy enough to try the
documentation which they have put before their eyes -- those just stand
in the way of the former.
Just remember there are people of all levels who need questions answered
(including more newbies than ever now). The vast majority come here in
good faith because they honestly can't figure something out, not because
they are too lazy to read the docs. Sure, there are a few that may post
questions out of laziness or apparent lack of mental capacity (such as
those that post the same question over and over again even after getting
answers ;-), but they are easily enough ignored. Nobody deserves to be
insulted.
