NSTextField and pasting troubles (Newbie)

Hi list,
This is my first post after a time of lurking (and learning a lot)
I have been reading and searching the archives in order to find one
last (I hope) lingering troublespot in my application.
It is about a NSTextField with firstresponder status in a panel that
will not accept
pasted numbers. (it has a number formatter attached).
It won't accept any pasted stuff, not text not numbers..
It WILL accept typed text..
I think I made a stupidish beginners mistake, but for the life of me
I can't seem to put my finger on it.
When the window activates, this field get's the blue fringe around
it, telling me it's first responder.. soooo, why won't it accept my
pasting (or cutting for that matter..)
I've had this trouble with the current version (beta) of the
developers tools, as wel as the last version..
Can anybody help me??
