NSDictionary and older lists

HELP! I am Lost

I want to use NSDictionary ( or variant) to load a unix style config file:

IE :

#comment
thisVar /a_path/to_something
#comment
thatVar ON

It seems that NSDictionary seems to only respond to XML.
I know the older NS system was able to read/write this type of file.
Suggestions anyone?
