Well, it's harder than what I'm used to, which is a private framework.
BTW, are you sure these windows really need to be modal?
Yes, they need to be modal. It'd be silly if they weren't. Modeless
dialogs aren't appropriate for getting 1-shot data from the user, nor
are palettes or drawers.
