I just knew, Ondra would reply to this one! LOL Ondra, you really HATE
AppleScript, dont you? I understand that there was no AppleScript on
NeXT and it might seem wrong to use AS for people who aren4t "native"
to Macs. But: I would guess more than 95% of all Mac-users dont even
know they can quit the finder.
So, depending on the kind of user one would expect for the app, I guess
it can be considered safe to use AS and the Finder to move a file to
the trash. I agree however that it makes sense to check for
availability of the finder before doing so.

Check archives for a lenghty discussion of this; the gist is that
there might be no Finder at all.
