On Thu, 7 Nov 2002, email@hidden scrawled:

The reason I brought this up, is the original CLEARLY, requests ALL cocoa
developers to have a look.

No reason why they shouldn't, either. Don't speak German? No problem. Don't use it. I'd originally thought 'Oh, no. Another forum. But on looking, I thought "Ah, cool. A German language forum." I personally don't speak German, it should be noted, but local language resources are useful for those that speak the relevant local language.

English is the language of computer programming,

To a certain extent, yes, English is the language of programming. But not to the point that one should exclude other languages. I actually believe that Apple probably should provide localised documentation, although I can see why they don't - take a look at the moaning that goes on about the quality of documentation when it's only in English ;-)

Anyway, back to the point. A little parallel might help here:

I happen to live in France, but my mother tongue is English. I carry out my own car and motorcycle maintenance. This means that I have to buy parts and tools in French, and have to talk to mechanics in French. However, I buy manuals in English, and search for most relevant information on the web in English, because it's easier for _me_.

There's no reason why German speakers shouldn't have a german language forum, if they find it easier to converse in German. Why does that hurt you so much? As you yourself said,

get over it

But then, of course, and seemingly without a hint of irony,

just because <extremely offensive and badly spelt comment deleted> is not an
excuse to become abusive to someone who expects the adherence to standards.

Oh, look, Mum! A xenophobe! I thought they died out in the 20th Century! Can we keep it? Pleeeeeeease? I promise I'll feed it!

Simon
