I checked out the code, but it makes a tiff with an alpha still. It is
because the input image has an alpha, so the output it makes is greyscale,
but with alpha.

I am starting to wonder if it just is not possible to save a tiff with no
alpha using apple provided routines. Has anyone actually been able to do it?

Thanks,
Ben
