Yes it does suck.
No argument there. And people are forgetting the enormous flush-out
in the past year: Enron, WorldCom, Global Crossing - talk about
letting the air out of the balloon... Things get better, they always
do, they have to.

OK, Mr Buzzer, you go. I need time to think about it. ;P~~

McNealy was interviewed in eWeek recently. He was mildly afraid of
these new MS development tools. "They can get you a demo in record
time - but the stuff breaks later on." Something to that effect.
Showroom flash - that's where the R&D $$$ is spent. No thank you.

I don't know anything about any Woods except Tiger, but I think two
things here.
1. The Windows user world is full of cretins.
2. Mac people are accustomed to paying more and more often.
I think in both cases it's partially a question of market size
(prices are higher with less of a turnover) and percentages seeping
out into the cracks (0.01% cretins won't show up as easily in the
Apple market). Also, a LOT of MS ISV software - I would estimate 80%
- is "compensatory", i.e. you need something more because something
in the operating system doesn't work right. People are naturally
bitter and resent having to pay more. The ISVs get hit, even though
it's MS that's often at fault.

Yeah riight. Hehe.

5. APPLE MUST EMBRACE x86
The standard comment at Slashdot is that OS X for x86 is only
interesting for followers of RMS who love OS X but don't want to pay
for it. They're hoping they can rip a copy off. This is foremost a
joke, but there may be some truth in it.
Also, I really hate Intels. I've followed them since the 4004, and
what they have today really stinks, like a souped-up Volkswagen
doing 25,000 RPMs - it spins fast, but it don't go nowhere. The PPC
on the other hand embodies an elegant design that from day one had
all instructions at one clock cycle. That's awesome.
OK, so now let's go to the pub. I'm thirsty!
Cheers, R.
