Not where I was standing it wasn't, and I was standing staunchly in
Slick Willie's camp. C++ got pushed because Slick Willie pushed it.
Geez, all you had to do was call the local MS office and already the
switchboard operator would jump in. "We at Microsoft recommend you
use C++ in the future." The switchboard lady - think about it.
Still, by 1993, not even one programmer in 6 had even tried to use
it. But because Microsoft offered it, and because so many companies
bet the farm on Visual Basic and lost, because they needed something
fast, they chose the horrid MFC with C++.
Don't look to Apple for an explanation. Don't even look to McNealy.
Look to Microsoft - you have them to thank for all your headaches.
