Thanks for your reply. Yes, I didn't receive any followups. But after much more experimentation, lost hours, and retrofitting of code from a backup, it looked like the project itself was corrupt, as even when I completely retrofitted the code from a working version, the unexpected exit still occurred. So I then replaced the project with the backup, and the problem went away. Rather odd, but such is life.

It just shows, once again, the merits of regular backups of important data!
