I wish that Apple would quit System Preferences when you close it's single window...

Uh-huh. And iCal doesn't exist, Process Viewer doesn't exist, Key Caps doesn't exist...

That Apple does not make particularly user-friendly and standards-conforming UI is a news for you? Lucky man there.
