Eh, calm down. And the comparison with Claris Emailer is just stupid.
1) Use the pulldown in the Search toolbar item, the one with the
magnifying glass and make sure you have not selected "Entire Message,
In All Mailboxes" unless that's what you really intended. Maybe you
should select "To" or "From" in "In <this> mailbox".
2) If that doesn't help. Pick the menu item Mailbox | Rebuild Mailbox.
I routinely search though mailboxes with over 10K messages in them and
it does fine. Just now I did a search on "Entire Message" in a mailbox
with 15,000 messages and the search completed in < 4 secs. What do you
want, Google embedded in your Mail app?
