The MetaKit API is in C++; there are currently Tcl, Python and Ruby
wrappers. I'm currently using it in Python and am extremely happy
with its flexibility and elegance. An Objective-C wrapper would not
be a lot of work. MetaKit is not exported by AddressBook.framework,
however.
