This is a terrible misnomer
EOF is an outstanding piece of technology. WebObjects would probably
not have attained the current level of acceptance that it has without
it. But did you know that EOF also has a number of classes that allow
you to trivially write database applications with Cocoa GUI frontends?
And not just for databases...
Using classes like Qualifier and SortOrdering one can trivially
implement an iTunes-like table with search and sorting based on
selected column. OK, it's database like, but it also works in memory on
collections of objects, you do not have to have an adaptor, an editing
context and so on.
Using EOInterface one used to be able to trivially implement
Controllers to bind user interface elements to model values. No more
setStringValue: ...
