check spelling as you type?

I come back with an old question.

When check spelling as you type is on, the spell server receives a sequence of words to be tested. How one can customize the definition of those words?

More precisely, if I enter the text

\makeatletter blah

the spell server will receive the words "makeatletter" and "blah". How can i make the spell server receive
the sequence "\makeatletter" and "blah" taking into account the leading "\"?

The previous answer was something like "there will be something for that in Jaguar", but I can see nothing new... sigh
all the appkit methods clearly involved with word defs seem to be ignored...

Will I have to reinvent the wheel and implement my own check spelling as you type process?
