The app I'm developing will never run on anything less than Jaguar
since it pipes to the built-in ruby. It's a straight Mach-o app.
Nonetheless, I need to use some Carbon component manager calls that
return handles.
Is the Carbon memory manager is really implemented in this situation,
requiring HLock and friends, or is it just a compatibility layer?

and I thirsted for a meaningful vision of human life - so I became a
scientist. This is like becoming an archbishop so you can meet girls.
