Updating Minimized Windows

I want to update the dock tile of a minimized window (with the app's
current window contents). How do I do this?
I have tried [mWindow setMiniwindowImage:...] but it does nothing. I
have looked for the global flag that is supposed to inhibit this
method, but I can't find it. I have read over 20 posts of others
looking for the same answer, but I have seen no answer. I have scrubbed
NSApp, NSWindow class documentation and see nothing.
Several apps including Apple's own "Clock" and Quicktime Player do
this, so I know OSX can handle this. Please help.
