How to change the app viewing WWDC video

I am developing an application to be able to annotate movies, my main
motivation was to annotate the developer video and the keynote ;)
But It seems to be impossible to ask browser to open the movies with my
own application?
Is there is some magic to do?
I see that there are a lot of different situation : direct http ref,
embed tag ....
Seems to be a little bit complicated.
