Input focus

I have an application and I want it such that an NSTextField gets all
the input for the application [and therefore does not loose the blue focus
ring] as this is the means by which the app takes input. This works most
of the time but I get times when it looses focus, how can I make it
automatically grab focus [or not loose it?]
