metallized interface

While I can make an NSDocument metallized through the Interface Builder, the NSPanel class used for panels and file browsers (Open, Save, etc.) use the "pinstripe" look.

Is there a way to programmatically force these "secondary" items to take the metallized appearance of a main document?
