Hi,
After months of development, I'm glad to announce the
release of GNUMail.app v1.0.3.
GNUMail.app is a free, fully-featured mail application distributed
under the GPLv2. GNUMail.app works well under both
GNUstep (
http://www.gnustep.org) and Apple Mac OS X.
Here's a list of what has changed since the last release (see the
ChangeLog file for more details):
o Added PGP/GPG support through a bundle;
o It's now possible to specify the port for SMTP transport methods;
o It's now possible to reuse a MailWindow when opening a folder;
o It's now possible to view a message in a separate window when
double-clicking on it;
o Added a custom mail headers renderer;
o Full NSToolbar support on OS X;
o Added many new preferences that can be configured using the
"defaults" tool (see docs/PREFERENCES)
o Refactored a lot of code, fixed bugs and improved performance
of the application.
You can see a screenshot of GNUMail.app under GNUstep here:
http://www.collaboration-world.com/gnumail.data/screenshots/v1.0.3/GNUMail.png
and under Apple Mac OS X showing NSToolbar support here:
http://www.collaboration-world.com/gnumail.data/screenshots/v1.0.3/GNUMail-OSX.png
In order to compile GNUMail.app, you need to get and install
Pantomime first. You can get it here:
http://www.collaboration-world.com/pantomime
You can get GNUMail.app 1.0.3 sources and the binary version
(including Pantomime) for Apple Mac OS X here:
http://www.collaboration-world.com/gnumail
If you want to compile yourself GNUMail.app, see the docs/README file.
It explains in details how to compile it under GNUstep and Apple Mac OS X.
This release has been tested under Apple Mac OS X 10.1.5 and
GNUstep (base/make 1.4.0 and gui/back 0.8.0).
Some important notes when you upgrade to GNUMail.app 1.0.3:
o If you previously installed bundles in your GNUMail.app user
library, you must re-install them;
o If you use 1.0.3, you can't go back to 1.0.2 unless you remove
your previous preferences values.
I also added a FAQ on how to install the PGP/GPG bundle (see section 3.2
of the GNUMail.app FAQ on the website).
I would like to thank everybody that helped me getting this big
release done and especially Francis Lachapelle, Nicolas Roard
and Ujwal S. Sathyam.
Comments, feature requests, patches are always welcomed. If you want
to help, you can look at the docs/TODO file to find out what needs
to be done for this project.
Thanks a lot,
Ludovic
