I recently filed a bug report, because I couldn't get NSSound to play .wav files at all! But this worked fine on 10.1, so it is Apple's bug, not ours.

My suggestion: report a bug, and then send them examples of a file that will play, and one that won't. And tell them to cross-reference bug ID 3047420.

Dan Wood

I've been trying to incorporate sound into my app by using NSSound methods to play some .wav files I have lying around (we're only talking short sounds for alerts etc., nothing sophisticated) and, after a fair bit of struggling, I find it can only play some .wav files, not all. And those it does play sound different from the way QuickTime renders them (sort of speeded-up, I guess). Two questions: is NSSound fussy about the sample-rate of wavs? And would I be better off converting the wafs to AIFFs?

Cheers,
Julian.
