Wow, I haven't heard that mentioned (PCCTS) since I was in school with
the guy that wrote most of PCCTS.

flex/bison of course. Not only they are better; moreover, they are
standard part of Mac OS X ;)
Well, so are lex and yacc.
BTW, people interested in writing parsers might also want to check out
the Purdue Compiler Construction Tool Set (PCCTS).
