As I understand it, CFString and NSString are one and the same (otherwise you couldn't use them interchangeably). I would assume that NSString is simply a wrapper to CFString. But perhaps someone from Apple can confirm this.

CFGetRefCount() on it, and the return value was 1. This helps, but I still
don't know if the string was marked for "autorelease" or not.
