Its my understanding that the built in keyboard and trackpad on all Apple laptops remain ADB devices, not USB. So that does make some sense.

They are. Which leads to fun stuff like not being able to hold down more than 3 keys at once and have the computer register them.

I had a look at the hardware notes for the TiBook and can't find anything anywhere to indicate that they use ADB internally. Where are you getting this info?
