Hi,
On the advice of an OreillyNet Cocoa article about Rendezvous and BSD
sockets, I picked up the W. Richard Stevens book - "Unix Network
Programming: Volume 1".
The thing is that I cant compile the book's sourcecode... its
dependent on some .h the author wrote. The website at kohala.com
doesnt offer an a MacOSX version of "UNP.h" (Google turned up
negative) and I am in a state of constant frustration trying to figure
out how to get the thing going. I could, I suppose, create a new
header file with all the /usr/include <sys/foo.h> headers but
apparently the header is getting #defines from the system -- and I'm
like... thats why I'm reading the book(If I knew that stuff I wouldn't
need to read it)...
But the issue, is not that I want to compile the sample source thats
included with the book so much as I have a need to just become
familiar with what functions are associated with which headers in the
the above listed directories. I have tinkered with OmniGroup's
Networking Framework, but alas that has no documentation, although. I
hope that in the future Apple will include a networking framework
similar to Omni's. Unless of course they have something way better on
the way...
Does anyone have a fix to offer or even better a UNP.h that works with
OSX? Any advice would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks,
JR
