about Rendez-vous and Distributed Object

basically I have services (Startup Items) running on multiple computer
on my network
I want to be able to manage them from a single admin client
Initially I was think each service would vend an object via DO.
then it appear to me (or I don't find) an easy way to get the list of
computer on a network vending an object.
then I look into Rendez-vous which looks good for browsing object but
isn't DO friendly (at first glance)
Any ideas, suggestion, links, samples, advices to enlighten me ?
