Modal windows with a return type

Hi,
I need to create a modal window like and NSOpenPanel that you can put in an if statement to see if a button has been click. Is this done by using a separate runloop to wait until the button is clicked or is it some other way?

Any pointers are greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Greg
