App won't quit on logout

I've managed to disable the standard functionality of a Cocoa App
quitting when the user logs out - It will still quit just fine from the
menu or keyboard. But logout times out -
I think is related to another problem I had where a quit AppleEvent was
being ignored.
is there a way to force my Cocoa App to look for a quit AppleEvent or
up its priority?
