it seems to me that it would be difficult to even get just the
compiler for windows.
I was under the impression (though I never checked) that the GNU
compiler
suite includes Obj-C. You would still be missing the libraries,
though ...
Hmmm... What does Apple have to say on this? (on both topics: 1. no
obj-C on Win? and 2. Cocoa libraries on Win?)
Programs developed by the coolest tools (I'm referring primarily to
Obj-C/Cocoa here) are limited to running on the Mac, thus limiting the
market of developers using those tools to Mac only markets. Doesn't
that make those tools less attractive to the average developer? What
if Apple's great tools required a Mac for development (or at least were
a lot easier to develop with a Mac - which would help protect Apple)
but could still run on Windows, thus expanding the market of those
wanting to use that tool? Can that be done?
Or how about this: Is there a market for someone to write equivalents
of all the Cocoa libraries under windows, (perhaps making use of
whatever libraries windows has if it makes it any easier)?
Just a couple of thoughts, if they're worth anything...
David.
